A Typical Day at Promises Malibu Vista
Days at Malibu Vista are full and engaging to make the most of your time with us. You’ll participate in an array of traditional, alternative and experiential therapies and activities that promote whole-person healing. While treatment plans are individualized to your issues and needs and schedules vary by client, below is an example of what a typical day might look like at Malibu Vista.
A nutritious, energizing breakfast is served at 7:30 am. At 8 am we’ll take you offsite to a gym in the community where you’ll have time for fitness. Following gym time, you may have an individual therapy session with your primary therapist or have time for journaling or assignments. Late morning, you’ll participate in acupuncture, yoga or meditation or participate in one of a number of groups that cover such topics as life skills, nutrition education or dialectical behavioral therapy skills.
A gourmet lunch is served at 12:30 pm. In the early afternoon, you’ll participate in a one of a number of small groups such as The Daring Way(TM) shame-resilience curriculum, grief and loss, healthy communication or emotional intelligence. At 3 pm, you’ll have an individual therapy session or take time for journaling or assignments. Process groups, DBT skills groups or a community meeting takes place from 4 pm to 5 pm.
A healthy, nutritious dinner is served at 5:30 pm. After dinner, you may take a walk along Malibu’s beautiful beaches or participate in an offsite meeting. Other times we’ll have movie night or you’ll have free time. We close the day with evening reflections.
Weekends are a little more flexible with more free time. We start the day at 8 am and breakfast is served at 8:30 am. Gym time or offsite meetings or ancillary therapies take place at 10 am. Lunch is served at 12:30 pm. From 2 pm to 5 pm you’ll participate in self-realization or fellowship groups or travel offsite to a salon in the community or participate in another outing. Dinner is served at 5:30 pm. Following dinner you’ll have free time, participate in an offsite meeting, journal or complete homework. The day ends with evening reflections.
